Gentle Guidance for Mind, Spirit, Heart & Body

As the longest night of the year arrives, the Winter Solstice invites us to pause, reflect, and welcome the slow return of the light. Rather than rushing towards new goals or elaborate rituals, this season offers a gentle nudge to turn inward and nurture ourselves in small, meaningful ways.

This year, I’m excited to share a new approach: the Solstice Self-Care Wheel, with a free download. Inspired by the four elements and the wisdom of the tarot suits, this wheel is a playful, heart-led map for tending to your mind, spirit, heart, and body as the year turns.

Cozy room with plants, candles, tarot cards, and a steaming cup. Winter Solstice night sky with stars and moon visible through window. Calm, mystical vibe.

Create Your Solstice Self-Care Wheel

I'm a fan of simple, especially when it comes to spiritual practices. At this time of year, many of us are already running on fumes, so I purposely created this to be as uncomplicated and low-effort as possible. I've even designed a template you can easily print or copy by hand into your own journal. So, with a focus on simplicity and fun, here's how to work with your own Solstice self-care wheel.

If you're feeling creative:

  • Shape: Draw a large circle, divided into four equal quadrants (like a pie chart).

  • Labels: Label each quadrant: Mind (Air/Swords), Spirit (Fire/Wands), Heart (Water/Cups), Body (Earth/Pentacles).

  • Icons: Add a small, hand-drawn style icon for each element (e.g., feather for Air, flame for Fire, water droplet for Water, leaf or stone for Earth).

  • Space: In each quadrant, include:

    • A line to note the tarot card drawn

    • A few lines for reflections/journal prompts

    • A spot for a self-care intention or action

  • Border: Scatter whimsical doodles around the wheel; stars, moons, swirls, tiny tarot cards, or seasonal motifs (like holly or snowflakes).

If you'd prefer the printable:

In the template I've created, you’ll find all of the above. Let your intuition lead the way by adding colours, symbols, or seasonal touches that feel magical to you. I've included a couple of extra prompts below to spark inspiration, or to supplement your reflections with further journaling.

Elemental Guidance & Tarot Prompts

Mind (Air/Swords):

  • What truth wants to be spoken?

  • How can I clear mental space for the new?

Spirit (Fire/Wands):

  • What sparks my inner fire?

  • How will I invite inspiration in?

Heart (Water/Cups):

  • What feelings need tending?

  • How can I nurture connection and compassion?

Body (Earth/Pentacles):

  • What grounds and nourishes me?

  • How will I care for my body this season?

Visual Inspiration

If you’re someone who loves a bit of visual guidance, take a moment before each section to imagine the element’s energy:

  • Air: A gentle breeze clearing your mind

  • Fire: A warm flame kindling in your chest

  • Water: Floating in a peaceful, moonlit lake

  • Earth: Roots grounding you deep into the earth

Let these images inspire your reflections and self-care choices.

Make It Your Own

This wheel is yours to adapt, so use it as a one-off Solstice ritual, or return to it throughout the winter for ongoing support. Share your creations, insights, or favourite self-care practices with me by emailing julie@creativesoultarot.com or hop over to Instagram and tag @CelticSoulSanctuary so I can see your magic at work!

That's it! Simple, but fun. Wishing you a gentle, nourishing Solstice and a bright return of the light.
