Tarot for the Collective
This time last week, I was gearing up for my London adventure. We had an amazing day packed full of tarot history, book and deck browsing, and we even squeezed in sightseeing, visiting many of the places that I used as a backdrop in my Turning Moon dark fantasy series—which was an experience that would require a blog all of its own. The tarot exhibition in the Warburg Institute was superb, and it was such a thrill to see original artworks, tarot cards, and decks that have survived more than a century. I’ll share more info in a blog over the next week or two, but if you’re in or around London, and tarot is your jam, I recommend visiting the free exhibition. We also stumbled across a second free exhibit in the Atlantis Bookshop on Museum Street. It had an amazing collection of decks and esoterica, and it’s only a short walk from the Warburg. Although I’d saved lots of pocket money and was excited to shop in Watkins Books, the Sterling/Euro exchange rate was against us, and, I’d forgotten just how expensive London is. So, in the end, I came home with only one deck, the Lost Oracle which newsletter subscribers get to see in action this week.
Okay, I’ll quit blabbering and get on with the tarot forecast now. The cards tell the story this week, courtesy of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The 9 of Stakes (Wands) indicates a challenging start to the week. Although the end of what you’re working towards is almost in sight, this last mile is proving the longest. Perseverance is the message. You may be exhausted, and questioning if all the hard slog is worth it, but keep going. You haven’t come this far to quit, have you? Setbacks may further hinder progress, and these delays can be frustrating, but it will make victory all the sweeter when you reach completion (which you will!) If you find yourself dwelling on a past hurt or failure, and you’re paranoid it will derail things further, treat that wound. Take a good look at what caused it, why it still bothers you, and how you can heal it. Reflect too on your boundaries and where you might need to take a stand or draw a line. The 9 of Wands is all about determination. Grit your teeth, stick with it, and you’ll soon cross that finish line!

The Knight of Stakes confirms forward momentum. Yay! Once you deal with the issues of the 9 and push through the challenges, you’ll find yourself flowing into action once more. Passion reignites, excitement returns, and there may even be a spark of daredevil in you. By all means run with this fiery energy, but avoid recklessness. Overcoming the 9 of Wands can leave you feeling invincible, but the Knight of Wands can sometimes be a cocky fellow, so don’t allow impulse to lead you astray. Instead, channel that passion into your goal. Remember those boundaries you checked with the 9 of Wands? Ensure they’re still in place, because the Knight often forgets the importance of rules as he gallops into adventure.
Completion and success come with The World! All your perseverance and passion has paid off. The goal is reached, success is yours, and you couldn’t be happier. Celebrate your achievements. You’ve worked hard and learned a lot on this journey. Take a little time to reflect on the You who started this journey, and the You on its completion. Look at all the wisdom you gained! What new skills, practices, processes, or behaviours can you carry forward into future projects? Be sure to identify them, because guess what? You’re about to start again. The World signifies completion, but the Wheel keeps turning, and you’re about to be launched into a new rotation. Are you ready? (Buffy is!)
A welcome flow of forward momentum comes this week—once we persevere and get through the challenges of the 9 of Wands. We’ll feel pretty much unstoppable, but we must be mindful of the rogue Knight so he doesn’t lead us astray. Success awaits; we’ll soon be celebrating! Have an adventurous week, and as always, take what resonates, and leave aside what doesn’t!
