Tarot for the Collective
Hello my friends. Welcome to the Tarot Forecast for the week beginning August 10th, and what a week of celestial energy lies in store for us!
Right now, we’re in the window of the Lionsgate Portal which peaked August 8th and closes on the 12th. We have a solar eclipse on the 12th which aligns with the New Moon in Leo, and mid-week, we also have the Perseid Meteor Shower putting on a show for us. What does all this mean energetically? The Lionsgate Portal offers us a window of opportunity that supports release and manifestation. The New Moon in Leo ignites a catalyst for new beginnings while the Leo eclipse asks us to shed ego and any pride, fear, or outdated behaviours so we can step into our authentic creative power. It’s worth mentioning that the solar eclipse on the 12th sets the stage for the next six-months, marking a major turning point in how you love, create, and shine your authentic light. It’s not a quick-fix event by any means. Overall, we’re looking at deep reckonings, themes of personal courage and authenticity, and two powerful portals that help to release old identities for a new period of growth and expansion.
With such strong themes coming in, I’m aligning today’s reading with the prompts for this week’s August Tarot Inspiration, so I’m asking for guidance on the following: what is ready for release, what needs refining, and the next aligned step.
A reminder that August’s anchor card is the 6 of Cups whose influence I’ll weave in as I go.
What is ready for release: The Emperor
The Emperor shows up when we’ve been gripping the wheel a little too tightly. This is the part of you that believes safety only comes through control and rigid structure, and sometimes, in having the final say. In a Lionsgate week, this can feel like you’re clinging to an old identity because it once kept you steady. In truth, it’s already feeling heavy and restrictive. It takes bravery to let that armour go, but the Leo eclipse is here to support you, encouraging you to soften the need to be right, ease off on the need for control, and burn that inner rulebook that says you must be productive, composed, or in charge at all times.
With the 6 of Cups, you’re invited to return to a simpler, more innocent version of you. Not childish by any means, but a less unguarded you. It’s time to bring forth the you that creates because it’s joyful, not because it’s strategic.
Affirmation: I release control and allow my life to be guided by truth, softness, and steady inner trust.
What needs refining: 9 of Cups
The 9 of Cups is often called the wishes granted card, but in this reading it feels more like a mirror, asking: what do you think will finally make you feel fulfilled? This week is asking you to refine your relationship with desire. Clarity is the key. Under Leo energy, it’s easy to chase what looks shiny, impressive, or validating, yet the eclipse asks for authenticity over performance. So refine the wish by ensuring it’s aligned with your true self and not someone else’s version of how you ‘should’ be.
The 9 of Cups can also hint at comfort that’s become complacency. Have you outgrown a dream, a habit, or a version of ‘good enough’? The 6 of Cups weaves in as a reminder that your truest desires often have roots in your earlier self. It’s worth reflecting on what lit you up before you learned to edit or shape your joy for others. From there, you can refine your wish. You’ll know you’re on the right track when you feel its warmth expanding your heart and soul.
Affirmation: I honour my desires and refine them into a vision that feels true, nourishing, and deeply mine.
The next aligned step: King of Swords
This week requires clear sight and smart choices, so there’s no better fella than the King of Swords to lead the way. After releasing the need to control (Emperor) and refining what you truly want (9 of Cups), the King asks you to decide, communicate, and follow through with integrity. The King brings emotional maturity, the ability to hold your feelings with compassion while still choosing what’s wise and right for you. He’s as wise as The Emperor, but not quite as stern, so there’s more room for softness in your communication—especially with yourself.
During this period of the Lionsgate Portal and the Leo eclipse, you may receive insights that feel sudden and undeniable. Whatever you hear, see, feel, or intuit, write it down and act accordingly. Lean into that King energy and set boundaries, make plans, or have that tricky conversation. It’s time to choose the path that aligns with your values, even if it’s not the easiest one, or the one the ‘usual’ you would choose.
And again, the 6 of Cups adds a balm: let clarity be kind and truth compassionate. Lead yourself with both discernment and tenderness.

Release: Where am I trying to control an outcome because I’m afraid of what happens if I soften? What would trust look like here, in practical terms?
Refine: What do I think I want, and what do I actually want beneath that? If nobody could see or judge my desire, what would I choose?
Aligned step: What is the most honest sentence I need to say to myself this week, and what is one clear action that proves I believe it?
This week’s Tarot Forecast is an invitation to shed old armour and step into a truer, brighter version of you. The Emperor asks you to release rigid control and outdated identities, the 9 of Cups refines your wishes so they’re rooted in real nourishment rather than validation, and the King of Swords guides you into clean, courageous clarity.
