Tarot for the Collective
Welcome to your weekly Tarot Forecast. After a short break for the May bank holiday, we’re stepping into a fresh month with Judgement as our Anchor card. Judgement is a call to awaken, review, and choose what you’re ready to rise into. It’s also a message of epiphany, so expect moments of sudden awareness and clarity as you move through May.
This week, I’m reading with the Opportunity, Challenge, Outcome spread, which offers a clear pathway to what’s opening, what might test you, and what becomes possible when you meet it with honesty and courage. I’m working with the Dark Wood Tarot which offers a juicy shadow side to each card. The darker aspect offers a boundary or guideline. If you recognise these traits in yourself or others, it’s time to either draw a boundary or make a course correction.
May's Anchor Energy: Judgement
Judgement is the heartbeat beneath the whole reading, a gentle but unmistakable invitation to come back to yourself. It asks you to look at where you’ve been, what you’ve learned, and what you’re no longer willing to carry. This isn’t an exercise in harsh self-criticism. You’re being asked to find clarity, forgiveness, and the courage to answer your own inner calling. If you’ve been waiting for a sign, this is it! You get to choose again, which is always a powerful opportunity.
The Shadow Side: Drama queen energy. A love of distraction and noise to hide from inner truth. A false sense of sense, and placing unrealistic expectations on others.
Opportunity: Page of Cups
The Page of Cups arrives as your opportunity to open up and let inspiration find you. This is the energy of a new beginning; an intuitive nudge, a creative spark, a heartfelt message, or a surprising moment of emotional honesty. The Page is a curious energy, so let yourself be moved this week, even by small things: a dream, a song, a chance encounter, a sudden desire to create. If you’ve been guarded, this card reminds you that sensitivity is not a weakness but a compass, so trust yourself.
The Shadow Side: The inability to stay grounded in reality. Imagination running wild and unchecked. Emotional tantrums or isolation and silence.
Affirmation: I trust the gentle messages of my heart, and I allow new possibilities to find me.
Challenge: 8 of Swords
The 8 of Swords shows the challenge clearly: the mind can become a cage when fear is treated as fact. This card often appears when you feel restricted or unsure how to move forward, yet the perceived boundaries aren’t as solid as you might assume. Notice the language you’re using with yourself this week: “I can’t”, “it’s too late”, “I’m not ready”, “I’ll get it wrong”. Judgement asks for an honest review, and the 8 of Swords asks for a compassionate one. You don’t need to force a breakthrough. Try to loosen one knot at a time, and the clarity and freedom you seek will appear.
The Shadow Side: More drama queen energy. Allowing the drama to take over your life. Building your happiness on other peoples’ misery. Blaming everyone else for your predicament.
Affirmation: I release the stories that shrink me, and I choose one clear step towards freedom.
Outcome: King of Swords
The King of Swords as the outcome is a powerful close to this week’s reading. The King says clarity returns when you commit to truth. That truth lies in making clean decisions, setting boundaries, and communicating with calm authority. Although the King carries a sword, he doesn’t use it to punish. He swings it to create space by cutting away that which no longer serves. This week, you may find yourself choosing what is essential and letting the rest fall away. If you’ve been wavering, you’ll feel steadier. If you’ve been overthinking, you’ll see the pattern. Judgement supports this by reminding us to live from our values and not our doubts.
The Shadow Side: Using mental agility to undermine and manipulate. Cold words, sharp tongue. Intellectual snobbery to feed to the ego. Cutting off your nose to spite your face just so you can be ‘right’.
Affirmation: I honour my truth, I communicate clearly, and I choose what supports my highest good.

that a new choice is available?
What boundary, decision, or conversation would bring me the
most peace and clarity right now?
This week’s Tarot Forecast moves from soft opening (Page of Cups), through the mental fog of fear (8 of Swords), into grounded discernment (King of Swords), all guided by Judgement’s invitation to rise into a truer version of you.
