Tarot for the Collective

This week’s Tarot Forecast is a day late as I was gallivanting with friends for the weekend, and the adventures carried over into Monday. We went to the Viking Experience in Slane Castle, Co. Meath, and soaked up all the fun and glorious sunshine. It’s back to reality today, and with it, cloudy skies. Boo.

The cards are telling the story this week, and I’m working with another new deck in my collection; the Morgan-Greer Tarot which was first published in 1979!

Three tarot cards (VII of Wands, II of Wands and Knight of Cups) on a floral background. Cards depict figures with wands and armor, vibrant colors, and moon symbols.
7 of Wands, 2 of Wands, Knight of Cups. Deck: Morgan-Greer Tarot

A defensive position is the message from the 7 of Wands. This indicates a challenge, where you find yourself suddenly facing new obstacles, some which call for you to defend your beliefs, ideas, or passions. Sometimes, the 7 of Wands suggests a ‘Too Many Cooks’ scenario, where numerous voices or tasks bring confusion, but typically, with this card it’s about defending yourself, persevering, or putting boundaries in place. Fight for what you believe in. Determination will get you through this time. It takes courage to battle the trials, and our next card tells us how.

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” - Larry Elder

The 2 of Wands calls for a return to the drawing board. This is the card of forward planning in order to move ahead with confidence, meaning it’s time to simplify. If you want the obstacles of the 7 of Wands cleared, hit pause and take the necessary time to renegotiate. Figure out what’s a priority, what can wait a while, and perhaps even what can be cancelled or put on hold for now. Simplifying may also demand reducing the people involved in current projects. If too many voices are muddying the waters, it may be time to work alone, or with less people for the time being. Security comes with this card, so working with its theme of planning will restore the instability suggested by the 7.

Finally, the Knight of Cups trots in. Here comes the hero, guided by their heart and not the opinions of others. When did you last take a chance on doing something you love, something you’re truly passionate about? Two Wands indicate great determination, but perhaps the challenges of the 7 came about because your heart wasn’t truly invested in the project? If you come at this week with a compassionate, romantic, and visionary mindset, what might change? Knights in tarot love action, so take the risk and allow your heart to lead the way. The Knight of Cups is a dreamer, so let your imagination take the reins!

This week's tarot forecast suggests overwhelm with projects and/or responsibilities right now. By simplifying things, clarity should return. The Knight then calls on us to lead from the heart and dream big in order to gallop ahead. Here’s to a week of dreams, friends! As always, take what resonates, and leave aside what doesn’t.
