Tarot for the Collective

Welcome, friends, to your Tarot Forecast for the week ahead. We’re in a new month, which means we’re stepping into a fresh energetic anchor, and for October it’s the Queen of Stars (Wands). Think of her as your north star, and allow her to guide you through knowing what you want and in trusting your instincts.

October brings a special 'something' to the air. It's the arrival of ‘thin’ season, when the veil lightens as we near Samhain. Over the next few weeks you may experience more vivid dreams, heightened intuition, or increased sensitivity around people and places. It’s important to ground, so spend a few minutes sending roots down into Mother Earth before you start your day, throughout the day if you catch yourself feeling stressed or anxious, and in the evening before you settle down to sleep. You can also visualise a bubble of golden light protecting you. This bubble keeps the unwanted out and allows the good in. These are simple practices that can make a real difference to your energy.

October's Anchor Card: The Queen of Wands

The Queen of Wands is a beautiful card for October energy. She's confident without being loud, and magnetic without needing to chase. She carries charisma and warmth, so with her influence in October, you might notice a stronger pull towards owning your desires and choosing what fuels you rather than what drains you. She’s also a reminder that your creativity is a living thing, and it needs attention, consistency, and a bit of courage.

On a practical level, this card can show up as clearer boundaries around your time, a renewed relationship with your body and energy (including protection and grounding!), and a willingness to follow inspiration when it arrives. You may feel more decisive about what you’re available for, and more protective of the dreams you’re growing. If you’ve been waiting for a sign, the Queen of Wands is a green light to put yourself first, with authenticity and integrity.

On to this week’s reading. The cards are telling the story, so I’ll shuffle and draw and see what’s in store.

Three tarot cards on a wooden table with crystals and plants, labeled Eight of Hearts, Two of Stars, and The Release.
8 of Cups, 2 of Wands, The Release. Deck: Tarot of Light

8 of Hearts (Cups)

The 8 of Cups speaks to the moment you realise something has run its course, even if it once mattered deeply. This isn’t about dramatic exits or burning bridges, but honesty. You may find yourself looking at a situation, a habit, a relationship dynamic, or even an old version of your own identity and thinking, “I can’t keep pretending this still fits.” There can be grief here, because leaving something behind doesn’t mean it was meaningless, it simply means you’re ready for more truth.

This week, you might feel a quiet restlessness, a craving for space, or a need to step back so you can hear yourself again. If you’ve been over-giving, over-explaining, or staying out of obligation, this card invites you to reclaim your energy and walk towards what feels aligned, even if you don’t have the full map yet.

Affirmation: I honour what I’ve outgrown, and I trust myself to choose what’s true for me now.

Anchor influence: The Queen of Wands adds self-respect and courage here, reminding you that walking away can be a powerful act of self-leadership.

2 of Stars (Wands)

The 2 of Wands is the pause before the next chapter, the moment where you’re standing at the edge of possibility with one hand on what you know and the other reaching towards what you want. This card often appears when your vision is expanding, but your life hasn’t fully caught up yet. You might be planning, mapping, researching, or simply daydreaming more than usual. (And daydreaming is not wasted time, it’s often your inner compass recalibrating.)

This week asks you to get clear about what you’re building and why. Where are you playing small because it feels familiar? Where are you ready to take a measured risk, not for the thrill, but because your soul is asking for growth? The 2 of Wands also highlights choice, and choice requires honesty. If you’ve been waiting for permission, consider this your reminder that you’re allowed to want what you want.

Affirmation: I choose a future that matches my vision, and I take the next step with confidence.

Anchor influence: The Queen of Wands brings boldness and charisma to your plans, helping you trust your instincts and show up for your vision with steady conviction.

The Release (Death)

The Release is the card of endings that make space for real transformation. It’s a more impactful energy than the 8 of Cups, and although the double whammy of endings may feel like a punishment of sorts, it’s not. This kind of energy blows in to clear what’s stagnant so life can move again. It might show up as a strong urge to declutter, to stop double-guessing or negotiating with with what you already know. In essence, it’s like finally closing a door you’ve been keeping half-open.

Sometimes this card shows up as a shift in perspective rather than an external event. This could be sudden clarity, or a moment where you realise you’re done repeating a pattern that keeps you stuck. The Release card asks for courage, but it also offers relief. There’s power in letting something end, without dragging it into another season. So what are you ready to let go?

Affirmation: I release what’s complete, and I welcome the version of me that’s ready to rise.

Anchor influence: The Queen of Wands supports you in releasing with dignity and self-trust, so you’re not shrinking in the process, you’re stepping into your next chapter with your head held high.

Journal Prompts

  1. What am I ready to walk away from, not because it’s wrong, but because it no longer matches who I am becoming?

  2. If I trusted my vision fully, what would I commit to over the next few weeks, and what would I stop giving my energy to?

  3. What does self-leadership look like for me right now, and where am I being asked to be braver than I’ve been?

This week’s Tarot Forecast indicates a powerful turning point: recognising what you’ve outgrown (8 of Cups), choosing your direction with intention (2 of Wands), and allowing a clean ending so something truer can begin (The Release). With the Queen of Wands (Stars) anchoring October, you’re supported in showing up with confidence, protecting your energy, and trusting the creative spark that’s guiding you forward.
