Tarot for Creatives December 5th to 11th 2022

Hello, Creatives!

We’re drawing closer to the holiday season, and I’m counting down the weeks, but only because I’m looking forward to the break. The fuss and clamour of this time of year, I’d rather ignore. Bah, humbug, eh? I genuinely do enjoy some aspects of the holiday season, mostly the quiet, relaxing times hanging with friends and family. It’s the commercialism that drives me nuts; the relentless coercion to spend, spend, spend.

There’s a Full Moon this Thursday the 8th, and with it comes an energy of fulfilment and reflection, so grab the opportunity to take stock of where you stand as the year draws to a close. With this theme of ‘Where Am I?’ in mind, this week’s spread examines You, Your Current Path, and Your Potential, hopefully offering a bird’s eye view if you’re in need of clarity.

3 of Swords, 7 of Cups, Princess of Swords. Deck: Heaven & Earth Tarot

The spiky 3 of Swords leads the way this week with a message of sorrow and heartbreak. This could relate to actual matters of the heart, or the upset of a failed project, where the loss cuts deep. Reflect on what has caused any current hurt and ask yourself if you’re shoving it all down or actually feeling your feels. The message behind the 3 of Swords is the latter. It’s telling us to acknowledge sorrow so emotion can run its course. You’ll emerge stronger if you face the emotion now rather than ignoring the pain in the hopes it will simply evaporate over time.

There’s always a lesson to be learned when it comes to the 3 of Swords, so hold courage and acknowledge it. Once you do, you’ll be able to move on, and know that when faced with similar in the future, you’ll power through.

"It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped."

- Tony Robbins

Your Current Path is littered with sparkly distractions; and I’m not referring to holiday decorations! The 7 of Cups is the card of illusions, where all the glitter and glam has caught your eye, and tangled up in daydreams and illusion, it’s likely you won’t make the best choice. All that Glitters is not Gold is the message here, so before you make any kind of decision, take a look beyond that fancy, enticing exterior, because beneath the surface, it’s not what you think. With the sorrow of the 3 of Swords poking at your heart, you may simply want to feel better, and the shiny new things seem just the ticket. Hit pause, examine the options on offer and make informed, logical choices. Ensure your needs are in alignment with your hopes and dreams when picking through the options. Avoid the temptation of an easy way out just to have the decision made and/or make yourself feel better.

Ease of out daydreaming and into action!

The Princess of Swords reflects Your Potential. She’s a thinker, a keen student, and a seeker of knowledge, but being a youthful energy, she lives more in her head than in reality. Although creative, she lacks action, and tends to fall behind when it comes to expansion.

Within this week’s cards, there’s an overall energy of being caught up in our thoughts, with very little action being taken. Between mulling over sorrow, soothing with empty distractions, and now the inner world of the Princess, there’s a clear indication of retreat into our minds. Ease back out into the real world by making a move. Get out of your head by taking one actionable step, then another, and another. With the Princess reflecting a student, consider learning a new skill, or trying a new process within your creativity. Shifting into a brand new mindset will assist with returning to a more productive and expansive energy.

Considering the time of year and how most of us are running our engines on fumes at the moment, I can relate to this reading! There’s quite a heavy energy surrounding the three cards, which to me feels like tiredness. As the year comes to an end, we’re not exactly in proactive mindsets, so hanging out in our heads is an easier option. With the enticing vibes of the 7 of Cups and the Princess, hiding in our inner world may seem preferable, especially if it’s helping to soothe a sore heart, but the overall message is that while we’re distracting ourselves with tarnished gold, the real world and its valuable opportunities are passing us by. Even if it’s only something small, make a change to routine and thinking this week. A blast of fresh energy will help to knock us down from the clouds and onto solid ground again.
