Hello, Creatives!
Welcome back to Tarot for Creatives after a short bank holiday break. Not only do we have a Full Moon today, but there’s also a lunar eclipse taking place in the celestial heavens. Lunar eclipses stir emotional energy, so you can expect issues you may have been shoving down to bubble up to the surface. Introspection is important at this time, as is letting go, so this week’s reading asks; What am I burying, How can I process it, How can I release it?
The 6 of Swords opens our reading, bringing a message of necessary transition. Things have been tough lately, you’ve had a lot to deal with mentally, and while you know it’s time to move on, uncertainty has you stuck in place. You may find yourself asking; How will my landscape change? Am I ready for transition? With this card, the answer is yes.
You’ve weathered the worst of the storm. Calm seas lie ahead, but to get there, you need to take the oars and row yourself into healing water. Swords are cards of intellect, so reflect on whether you’re overthinking the process and making it more complicated than necessary, or if you’re dwelling in a space that gives no room for heart-centred thinking. Feel those feels, because it’s time to move on. Settling for being comfortably uncomfortable is a dangerous thing. Better things are waiting.
"Make every effort to change things you do not like. If you cannot make a change, change the way you have been thinking. You might find a new solution." - Maya Angelou
We now flip to heart-centred thinking with the 8 of Cups in the How to Process position. The 8 of Cups carries another theme of transition. This time, it’s walking away. You’ve sailed ashore following your journey with the 6 of Swords, and now you’re on dry land with a bright day dawning on the horizon. The 8 of Cups says it may be tough to leave some aspects of your situation behind, but what no longer serves, needs to go. Reflect on what or who is clinging on for dear life, maybe even manipulating you emotionally. It’s not easy to cut ties, but whatever the situation, in order for you to step back into yourself, it must be left behind. The 6 of Swords will have brought a lot of emotion to the surface. The 8 of Cups asks you to acknowledge it, and really listen to your heart. Don’t fear what it says. Accept the emotion, allow it to wash through you, and then face towards a brighter day.
The Ace of Swords signifies mental clarity, an illuminating a-ha moment, where the clouds part to allow the sun beam down. With the emotional turmoil of the 6 and 8 acknowledged and processed, you now actually have the headspace to think clearly—possibly for the first time in a long time! It’s almost a back-to-square-one energy, where all the emotional clutter has been swept away and you can finally think with clear logic. Swords cut through the BS, so with this new found clarity, you’ll also get release. Journaling is a great way to prompt clear thinking. Swords are cards of communication, so order your thoughts, set new boundaries, and craft how you want your life to look moving forward. Aces are wonderfully inspiring cards, but they demand physical action for their true power to be felt, so be mindful not to remain in thinking mode!
An emotionally charged week lies ahead, and with the lunar eclipse, an extra powerful punch of emotional energy will filter through, so be kind to yourself!
