Tarot for Creatives Sept 30th to Oct 6th 2024

Hello, Creatives!

My favourite month of the year is waiting in the wings! Witching season is on the way, and with it, a New Moon in Libra, a Solar Eclipse, a Full Moon in Aries, Scorpio season, and of course, Samhain!

I’m working with my Tarot Illuminati deck for this week's Tarot for Creatives, and she’s a sassy one, so I’ll let her tell the story instead of trying to coax her into submission with questions.

The Wheel of Fortune, 9 of Pentacles, The Fool. Deck: Tarot Illuminati

The Wheel of Fortune gets the energy stirring this week, bringing a message of cycles.

‘This Too Shall Pass’ is a saying I associate with the Wheel. It’s a reminder that when times are good, enjoy and celebrate them, as they won’t last forever. So too will the hard times pass. Even if the dark night seems endless, light will shine again. Good fortune also comes with the Wheel of Fortune, so it’s a positive omen for the week ahead.

The main theme of this card however, is change. Tens represent cycle endings in tarot, but the Wheel brings change on a grander scale, a far more pivotal shift. Karma is having its way when the Wheel turns. What you sowed, you’re about to reap, and if it’s not to your liking, too bad. Pushing against it will be a worthless endeavour. The consequences of past actions are now making themselves known. They may appear as a breakthrough, a new direction, a positive shift in mindset or behaviour, or long awaited progress. Get ready for change! And if it’s not to your liking, the Wheel is a reminder to make better choices the next time!

The good life comes in with the 9 of Pentacles. Hard work has paid off and it’s time to enjoy a reward. Mirroring the Karma aspect of the Wheel, the 9 of Pentacles is a reminder of the rewards that come from hard work and dedication. The dream you worked towards has been achieved. Finances are stable, you’re rooted in stability, and comfort.

However, this is a 9, a step away from the completion of a 10, so what would bring total fulfilment? Sometimes, this card can indicate boredom. Now that a goal has been achieved, passion and determination have burned away, and you may have a sense of restlessness. Yes, you’re grateful for success, but where to now? The Wheel and the 9 of Pentacles bring shared encouragement. Keep going, reach higher, farther, they say. But remain rooted in integrity or you’ll reap a dud harvest.

The adventurous Fool is this week’s second Major Arcana. Now that the Wheel has brought one cycle to a close and instigated another, the 9 of Pentacles has us grateful for success but ready for more, the childlike Fool skips in, ready to take us on another leap of faith. When the Fool steps out on his new adventure, he doesn’t ask how he’ll get to the End, or how he’ll survive along the way, he simply places faith in the Universe providing everything he needs.

Where the Wheel brings us to the end of a journey, the Fool launches us on a new one. If the outcome of the most recent cycle end wasn’t to your satisfaction, the Fool is a reminder that we can start again, with greater wisdom this time. Creativity thrives on Fool energy, so if you’re diving into a new project, embrace childlike wonder and exploration as you work. Skip out of your comfort zone this week. A wonderful adventure awaits!

The Wheel marks the shift into the season of Winter and a new cycle of energy. The 9 of Pentacles reminds us to enjoy the rewards of our labours, but also encourages us to stretch just a little further. The Fool invites us to play and take a chance. How will you embrace these energies this week? Have an adventurous week, Creative Souls!
